Suicide Prevention - Free On-Line Training (Save a Life take the Training)

The training will teach you how to recognise the warning signs and safeguard someone that could be contemplating suicide.  The free 20 minute course will teach you:

  • How to identify when someone may be having suicidal thoughts or behaviour
  • How to talk openly and confidentially to a suicidal person about their thoughts and feelings
  • The best process for signposting individuals to services or support networks that can help them

Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) Free On-Line Training

Pace UK, in partnership with Virtual College, has launched an interactive online information package for parents on the signs of child sexual exploitation. This free tool is designed to equip parents with the information and knowledge to safeguard children from this abuse. Please note that this on-line package is also suitable for staff, professionals and practitioners who work with children and has received excellent feedback.

The package quickly gives you the knowledge and information to be confident recognising and tackling this abuse. The tool is interactive and will take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete, but can be completed and reviewed at your own pace.

What is Channel?

Channel is an early intervention scheme that supports people who are at risk of radicalisation and provides practical support tailored to the needs of the individual.
The e-learning module will take approximately 25 minutes to complete and should be recorded as part of your Safeguarding ‘Learning’. The module will;

- Explain what is Channel
- Explain the Channel process and its purpose
- Explain how Channel links to the government’s counter terrorism strategy (PREVENT)
- Identify factors that can make people vulnerable to radicalisation
- Define safeguarding and risk ownership of the Channel process

This course has been developed with the Forced Marriage Unit of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Home Office. It aims to raise awareness, challenge perceptions and inform you of the correct actions to take should you suspect someone is at risk.

  • Take the right actions to help protect the potential victim
  • Co-operate effectively with other agencies

This free course is aimed at all professionals who have a responsibility to safeguard vulnerable children, young people and adults at risk.
