On-Line / E-Learning Training

Sefton LSCB - Striving to Safeguard Sefton's Children and Young People

Unfortunately, Sefton LSCB have taken the difficult decision to cancel training following government advice on COVID-19. If you are able to and wish to extend your professional development, we have extended our online training offer. This may be particularly useful if you have been advised to work from home or are having difficulties in accessing any face to face training opportunities in the future.

On this page you can access a wide range of free or low-cost e-learning designed to support work to safeguard children and young people. Please note courses and e-learning have their own registration requirements and have not been developed by SLCB. For this reason, we are unable to monitor the quality and content.

The following questions may help you think how you can prioritise and make best use of accessing e-learning:

  • What are your organisations priorities or training needs analysis?
  • What are your gaps in your safeguarding knowledge?
  • Are you part of a senior leadership team and you wish to introduce a programme of training to your team that can be easily accessed?
  • How will you plan for training to be accessed e.g. as part of induction, quarterly, yearly, following appraisal and supervision?
  • How will you record engagement and access to the learning? E.g. on a table, confirmation of an email, email register, timeline, virtual staff meeting?
  • How will you measure the effectiveness of training and impact on future practice and learning? E.g. evaluation, feedback from individual, identified priorities of improvement, pledges?
  • Will you request a commitment or action plan following completion e.g. a new policy, a change in approach during face to face work, increased confidence and knowledge?
  • How will this help you identify future safeguarding priorities?

Remember if you are committing to something you need to see how it has impacted.

Sefton LSCB has developed a template table containing all the on-line training on offer from various sectors.  You can download the template table here and adapt to reflect how you record your individual learning or to keep a record of how your team are accessing some of the resources.  For further information contact Sefton LSCB Learning & Development Officer, Louise Roberts by emailing  louise.roberts@sefton.gov.uk.
